First of all, thanks so much to those of you who have sent your donations to the CHS Class of 1968 Scholarship fund for this and past years. Your donations are truly appreciated and have allowed us to award a total of 15 scholarships since 1999. But, our fund continues to struggle.

At this time, we need every classmate’s help to reach our goal of $5,000.00, and make our fund self-sustaining.

We are asking each of you to invest in the future of a child by sending your tax deductible gift of at least $19.68 to Lynne Faimalie as soon as possible. If your company does donation matching, please be sure to include that form with your check.

More Information on the CHS Class of 1968 Scholarship Fund

The CHS Class of 1968 Scholarship Fund was established at the 30th Reunion in 1998.  It was the feeling of the attendees that this was a valuable contribution where we could continue to give back to our community.  Lynne Edelman Faimalie serves as Chairman of this committee and Lynne and her committee have developed the focus for awarding the scholarship as outlined below.

The Plan

  1. Scholarship may be used for college, technical or vocational training school.
  2. Top consideration will be given to the graduating senior child of a CHS Class of 1968 alum graduating from Clearwater High.  If no qualified recipients fit that category, other Class of 1968 alum's graduating senior children residing in Pinellas County Florida, will be given special consideration.  After that, all applicants complying with the other criteria will be considered equally.
  3. Academics, community or school service/leadership, financial need etc. will all be taken into consideration.Lynne Edelman Faimalie challenges Saturday night attendees to donate in support of a CHS Class of 1968 Scholarship fund.
  4. The money goes through the Education Foundation here in Pinellas County, which keeps hassles to a minimum and offers a tax break to donors. Lynne and her Class of 68 Scholarship Committee screen all applicants and the final decision is made by two representatives from the committee and one representative from Educational Foundation committee.

What We Need

We need $5,000 minimum to be an "ongoing" scholarship, which means that the recipient could renew the scholarship each year, as long as certain criteria continue to be met.

All we're asking for is a minimum donation of $19.68 each year.   If you are willing and able to donate more, Lynne will be happy to accept.   Keep in mind, this is a tax deductible donation that will help a child in need from Clearwater High School continue on with his or her education.

*Donations to the CHS Class of 1968 Scholarship Fund made from this page are not tax deductible.  However, if you send a check made to the Pinellas Education Foundation to Lynne Faimalie, 433 South Paula Drive, #12, Dunedin, FL 34698, that donation is tax deductible.
